Recently, XG announced the title of their highly anticipated 2nd mini album, “AWE,” set to release on November 8. Fans were thrilled when the track list, partially revealed on the same day, included “WOKE UP REMIXX.” This new track, “WOKE UP REMIXX (PROD BY JAKOPS),” was released on September 20 (Friday).
With their earlier release “WOKE UP” in May, XG impressed listeners with a bold hip-hop identity and an all-rap style, marking a new direction in music that captivated audiences.
The remix, produced by JAKOPS (SIMON JUNHO PARK), Executive Producer/CEO of XGALX, has garnered attention as he performed as a DJ during XG’s first world tour, “XG 1st WORLD TOUR ‘The First HOWL.’”
Born in Seattle and blending Japanese and Korean influences, JAKOPS has infused the original song’s identity with evolved charm. The remix features eight prominent rappers representing Japanese and Korean hip-hop: Jay Park, OZworld, AKLO, Paloalto, VERBAL (m-flo), Awich, Tak, and Dok2, creating a rich cultural fusion that adds a new synergy to the original track.
“WOKE UP” has seen significant success on the Billboard Japan Hot 100, ranking for eight consecutive weeks, and topping the Global Japan Songs Excl. Japan chart for nine weeks. The music video also made waves on YouTube’s trending charts, ranking first in the U.S. and in 19 countries and regions. XG is a seven-member HIPHOP/R&B girl group consisting of JURIN, CHISA, HINATA, HARVEY, JURIA, MAYA, and COCONA. They debuted in March 2022 with their 1st single, “Tippy Toes,” under the global entertainment production “XGALX,” promoting a bold culture to the world.
