Cat Deeley has opened up about the struggles she faces hosting This Morning and said that she “can’t just run on empty”.

The 47-year-old presenter faces a gruelling schedule on the ITV show, which sees her start at 5am and endure four days of live TV per week.

She currently stars on the show with Ben Shephard, 49, having replaced Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, who left last year. However, Cat recently hinted that she’d quit her job if it jeopardised her mental health.

The presenter explained that it’s “more important that I enjoy what I do”, but it would appear that she has been suffering from sleep problems, even trying hypnotherapy to remedy the situation.

Cat told Grazia Magazine: “I know it’s a bit kooky, but I’d tried everything else. When you do live TV, you go into fight or flight, where your body is pumping adrenaline. But then, how do I chill out afterwards? How do I sleep? Because you can’t just run on empty.”

In the same interview, Cat said she doesn’t feel “particularly vulnerable” but she’d “walk away” if she felt like something was impacting her or she “hated going into work”.

She also addressed reports of a “toxic” work culture at This Morning, saying she and Ben had “heard all of those stories”, but she could “only speak as I find it” and revealed that she hadn’t “seen one scrap of it”.

It was previously reported that Cat had landed a job alongside Spice Girl Mel B and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. She is set to be the judge on the ITV1 show M&S: Dress the Nation.

The Daily Mail reports that she will be joined by Vogue Williams, ex-Lioness Alex Scott, footballing legend Ian Wright and Bella Freud.

Cat previously lived in California for 15 years with her husband, Patrick Kielty, and two sons in a reported £2.1million mansion, which they revamped to include an office, gym and pool.

However, the much-loved TV star moved back to the UK following a horrifying experience that saw her and her family getting caught up in a mall shooting.

Meanwhile, co-host Ben Shephard, who is known for presenting The Krypton Factor and Tipping Point, made the switch from Good Morning Britain where he co-hosted with Kate Garraway.
