REELECTIONISTS Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna and Vice Mayor Yul Servo will be filing their certificates of candidacy (COCs) together between 10 a.m. and 12 noon on October 3, 2024 (Thursday) at the SM Cinema 12 in SM Manila, vowing to continue good and honest governance that is centered on the delivery of more basic services for the most needy sectorsm specially the senior citizens.
Meanwhile, Lacuna finally broke her silence on how she feels about the plan of ex-Mayor and defeated presidential candidate Isko Moreno to run against their tandem, admitting that: “definitely, I feel betrayed.”
Lacuna told an interview with One PH’s “Sa Totoo Lang” that the last time she and Moreno spoke was way back early August where Moreno told her of his plan to run for mayor, adding that the meeting was just short.
“Nabanggit niya binabalak niyang tumakbo ulit na mayor very short lang pag-uusap namin. Definitely, I feel betrayed because nung siya naman po ay namaalam at tumakbong Presidente, very clear po sa amin sa partido po namin na kapag hindi po siya sinuwerte ay magre-retire na daw po siya and on seveal occasions na magkakasama kami ay lagi po nyang sinasabi ‘yun, assuring everyone na he is already retired from politics at hindi ho kami magiging magkalaban kahit kailan,” Lacuna bared.
The lady mayor added: “Very clear po talaga ‘yun eh… in fact, bago po siya (Moreno) umalis ng Maynila ay pinagbilinan pa po nya kami ni Vice Mayor Yul Servo.. klaro po samin ni Vice Mayor Yul Servo po naa magre-retire na po siya at in fac, nabanggit po niya that he would venture into teaching at alam naman po natin na nagbalik- showbiz siya.”
Asked if by asking Moreno to reconsider she meant for him not to push through with his plan to run for mayor, Lacuna replied” Dapat po.
Notably, of the six incumbent Congressmen in Manila, five stuck with Lacuna and Servo, namely Congressmen Rolan Valeriano (2nd district), Joel Chua (3rd district), Edward Maceda (4th district), Irwin Tieng (5th district) and Benny Abante (6th district). All of them are also seeking reelection except for Maceda, whose wife Dr. Giselle will be taking his place since he has already reached the three-term limit.
Comebacking Congressman Manny Lopez meanwhile, will be running under the Lacuna-Servo tandem, which enjoys the support of the majority of the members of the Manila City Council.
All of them are running under the ruling local party in Manila, the Asenso Manileño, which helped Moreno become vice mayor and mayor, through the tutelage of party founder and patriarch, former Vice Mayor Danny Lacuna, father of Mayor Honey.
When Moreno lost the presidential elections in 2022, the Asenso Manileño made a clean sweep in Manila, winning all elective local posts from the mayor, vice mayor, six Congressmen and 36 councilors.
