Katie Hopkins has waded in on the conversation after Phillip Schofield confirmed his return to television this week. The disgraced presenter will be appearing in a brand-new three-part Channel 5 series, Cast Away, which airs next week.
Taking to X, formally known as Twitter, Katie uploaded her reaction to Phillip’s return after spending 16 months out of the limelight. She has previously not held back when it comes to the former presenter and his scandal.
The 49-year-old controversial star has given her opinion, saying: “What is it inside [Phillip] that makes him so desperate to be in the limelight? Why – in the reality you’ve been on the edge of suicide – why would you need to be so craven to be back on TV?”
Phillip has teased his followers that he “won’t be holding back” on the Channel 5 programme and that it is “his chance to tell his side of the story.”
Speaking in a trailer for the upcoming show, he said: “I’ve been cast away on a desert island, completely on my own, all I have is camera gear, and I can say whatever I want about whatever I want.
“I know what I did was unwise, but is it enough to absolutely destroy someone?”
Last year, Phillip stepped down from his role on This Morning after it was revealed that he had an affair with a younger male colleague.
During the new series, he shares during a poignant moment that he was prepared to end his life – but was saved by his daughters Molly and Ruby.
According to The Sun, he recalled: “It got as dark as it is possible to get. A year ago, I got so, so close.
“I had everything in place. Everything was set up. Everything was ready. And it was Molly that was looking after me. Molly and Ruby were both looking after me at the time.”
He then goes on to say: “Without them, I wouldn’t be here.”
It has also been revealed that during the 10 days he spent on the desert island, Phillip lost a dramatic amount of weight.
Taking to Instagram, he posted a video of himself in the gym lifting weights and captioned it: “Leg day. Putting back the 6kg I lost on the island with muscle… not carbs.”
Cast Away airs on Monday 30th September on Channel 5.
