Taguaí, Brazil, is characterized by its high temperatures, cloudy days, and frequent rains. To face these weather conditions, greenhouse growers in the region used to paint plastic coverings to reduce heat. However, cloudy days limited the amount of light entering the greenhouse, which negatively impacted crop growth.
Reynaldo Almeida, a bell pepper grower in this area, was looking for a solution to face these challenges and achieve optimal light, shade, and temperature so that his greenhouse would have the right climate balance.
Thanks to the support of the Svensson distributor in Brazil, Altair Zotti from AgroCultivo, and the advice of Alán Falomir, Svensson’s Climate Consultant, Reynaldo has successfully overcome the challenges of the region, significantly improving the quality and yield of his crops.
Better light and temperature control with Harmony 3915 O E
After a detailed analysis of the situation in Reynaldo’s greenhouse, it was decided to install the Harmony 3915 O E climate screen. This solution is specifically designed to improve the greenhouse climate by optimizing light, shade, and temperature control, contributing to a more balanced climate for crops.
Effective pest control with Xsect Xtreme
Taguaí is also known for its open-field production, which leads to a high presence of pests. This situation presents an additional challenge for growers, who also face the threats that pests and insects bring to the greenhouse.
To address this problem, Reynaldo installed the Xsect Xtreme insect net, designed to provide an effective barrier against pests.
“The Xsect Xtreme net has kept the crops free from pests and the diseases they transmit, while also reducing our use of chemical products,” says Reynaldo.
The combination of the Harmony 3915 O E screen and the Xsect Xtreme insect control net has not only contributed to an increase in crop quality and yield but also helped optimize the climate inside the greenhouse, creating ideal conditions to maximize the performance of each harvest.
Despite its extreme weather conditions and high pest pressure, greenhouse agriculture in Taguaí remains essential for the region. Growers like Reynaldo have managed to overcome these challenges thanks to the implementation of our climate solutions.
To conclude, we share what Reynaldo told us about his experience working with Svensson and the reasons that led him to choose our solutions:
“The service and quality were key to our choice. Being a new tool for us, the help from Svensson’s consultants was essential for achieving good results.”
