During the late summer gathering, attendees toasted to the valuable and enjoyable collaborations at Ridder in Maasdijk, Netherlands, last week. The afternoon and evening were focused on connection, a theme that Pascal Piepers highlighted in his opening remarks.

Special attention was also drawn to Ridder’s new app. Sander Baraké from Ridder stated, “This app is connected to the climate computer. It provides growers with 24/7 insights into what is happening in the greenhouse, anywhere and at any time.”

He gives a quick overview of how it works. In no time, there’s a wealth of information available, including data on climate, irrigation, and energy. It’s presented simply, as it’s an intuitive app; the choices you make are very logical.

Joost Veenman joins in and confirms, “That’s exactly what we aimed for. It’s an app that doesn’t require a manual. It’s designed to display information clearly while still providing a lot of data. It’s just like all the other apps on your phone—none of them come with user manuals either.”

The app has been tested in various locations around the world, including Spain, the United States, and the Netherlands. During this year’s GreenTech, it was announced that the app would soon be available. Currently, four growers are using it. It will be commercially available starting January 2025.
