CEBU CITY – Beware of fake news.
Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado issued this warning as he cried foul over what he described as malicious content that has been circulating on social media.
BOHOL Gov. Aris Aumentado has debunked a social media post involving him and SAGIP party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta. (Gov. Aris Aumentado FB page)
Aumentado was referring to a social media post showing him together with SAGIP party-list Rodante Marcoleta in a photo.
The post also indicated that Aumentado has expressed support for the Duterte family and Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Laban.
The governor said the photo was taken last May 2023 when Marcoleta paid him a courtesy visit in Bohol.
“Mga sano ug sana, fake news o dili tinuod kining post nga nigawas sa social media, diin matod pa, adunay nahitabong panagsabot tali kanako og ni Congressman Rodante Marcoleta (Mga sano and sana (Boholano terms of endearment), fake news or it is not true was the post on social media where it was said that an agreement has been made between me and Congressman Rodante Marcoleta),” said Aumentado.
Aumentado said what was posted was an old photo that was recycled.
“It was a malicious post and no one should believe it,” said Aumentado.
Aumentado advised Boholanos to be more discerning when encountering such information on social media.
“Let us not believe right away what we are seeing on social media, especially if it does not come from my official accounts or legitimate media organizations,” said Aumentado.
Aumentado has joined the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), a national political party chaired by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
Together with four other governors, Aumentado took his oath as new member of the PFP before South Cotabato Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. last August 8 in Manila.
