Will Kirk of The Repair Shop has updated fans on the health of his newborn child a day after announcing his arrival. The BBC favourite, who has been part of the expert restoration team since 2017, shares his son and older daughter with wife Polly Snowdon.

On Tuesday (October 1), 39-year-old Will posted a photograph of his child’s foot resting in between his hands to Instagram. In the caption, he explained to his 177,000 followers that he and Polly had quietly become parents to a second child.

“Three become four,” he typed. “I’m very proud of my lovely wife for the last 9 months. Mum and baby doing well, including an incredibly excited big sister.”

A day later, the antique furniture restorer shared another snap with his son—a selfie featuring his son in a baby sling. Alongside the photograph, he wrote: “Back in the sling of things,” followed. by the hashtags “First moustache”, “lads” and “morningcoffeerun”.

Fans have been gushing about the Kirk family’s latest addition, with one Instagram user writing: “Lovely news, well done the pair of you….enjoy these precious years with your babies, they grow up so fast.” A second commented: “I hope all’s well, congratulations! Which is more than I can say for your tash.”

Someone else penned: “Huge congrats! Just pop the sling up a little higher, should be able to kiss the baby’s…head.”

Will has since replied to the concerned commenter by writing: “I was outside the house and about to adjust it as I share the sling with my wife, there’s a slight difference in our height.”

Will has yet to share the name of his and Polly’s second child. The pair also previously elected to keep the moniker of their daughter – whom they welcomed in July 2022 – under wraps too.

In July, the skilled craftsman admitted that he wanted his first born to follow in his footsteps.

While promoting his new book, Restore: The Art of Caring for the Things You Love, on ITV’s Lorraine, the Scottish presenter said: “What do you hope anyone who is interested in this, will take away from the book?”

“Just that you can do it yourself and I think it’s just having that confidence and that’s what it is all about,” Will claimed. “There is that element that if something is expensive or holds value then it’s best to go to an expert.”

Lorraine, 64, went on to say: “When you were a little boy you watched your grandad fix furniture and thought ‘I want to do that’ and I think that is lovely.”

“It runs in my blood and perhaps my daughter will do the same thing. She is nearly two,” quipped Will before Lorraine added: “Good luck with that, the terrible twos.”

The furniture enthusiast, who studied Graphic Design and Antique Furniture Restoration and Conservation at the University of the Arts London and the London Metropolitan University, made his television debut on Channel 4’s The French Collection.

Four years later, he began to star o The Repair Shop before going on to become a BBC Morning Live regular.

Will has competed on the 2021 series of Celebrity MasterChef and presented the first series of The Travelling Auctioneers with Christina Trevanion.
